Open Access status does not replace scientific evaluation. Every project must satisfy the editorial, ethical and technical requirements applicable to its publication type.

Where an Open Access publication charge applies, AvenSci communicates the applicable amount, scope of services and payment conditions before the project is contractually committed.
Payment does not guarantee acceptance. Editorial decisions remain independent of publication charges, purchases, sponsorship or funding arrangements.
RIGHTS & LICENSING
Open does not mean rights-free
Reuse permissions depend on the licence attached to the work. Third-party material may be subject to different rights and must be identified appropriately.
Licence display
The applicable Creative Commons or other open licence is shown with the published work and its metadata.
Author responsibility
Authors must secure required permissions for reused figures, tables and other third-party material.
Third-party exceptions
Open Access status does not automatically extend to all third-party content included in a publication.
Open research, clearly licensed
AvenSci supports open-access publication for eligible books, chapters and other scholarly works. Open-access content is made available for readers to access without a purchase barrier and is accompanied by a clearly stated licence.
Licensing
The applicable Creative Commons or other open licence is specified in the publication agreement and displayed with the published work. The licence determines how readers may reuse, share or adapt the content and what attribution or other conditions apply.
Publication charges
Where an open-access publication charge applies, the amount and what it covers are communicated before contractual commitment. Payment of a charge does not guarantee acceptance and must not determine editorial decisions.
Books and chapters
Open access can apply to a complete book or, where the publishing model permits, to individual chapters. This enables chapter-level access in edited volumes while preserving clear licensing for each contribution.
Third-party material
Open-access status does not automatically extend to every third-party image, table or other item included in a publication. Different rights information may be displayed for such material.
Metadata and dissemination
AvenSci aims to make open-access content discoverable through rich bibliographic metadata, persistent identifiers where applicable, search-engine indexing and accessible digital formats.
